Heated Gloves

I really like them however only gave 4 stars as I’d prefer if the battery life was better and they got a bit warmer. On full heat they are luke warm you really don’t want to use low or medium as you can barely feel it. For $400 I’d really expect them to get a LOT warmer.

Good heated gloves

Full power is warm but could be warmer. During a few 5 degree rides over winter they kept the cold out, but my hands weren't exactly warm. My heated glove liners (different brand) keep my hands warmer that the HG-1. The thumb pouch is waaaay too long, and overhangs my thumb by more than a cm, obstructing smooth use of the indicator button. The rest of the glove fits OK (large) so I'm not sure why Five have tailored such a huge thumb pouch. Quality is excellent and they have a plush, all weather feel about them. Overall, I'm glad I bought them, but they really need to be warmer for their high price point.

HG-1 Evo Heated Gloves

Great gloves and concept. One of the batteries that came with the product seems slightly faulty and discharges way faster than the other one but apart from that I’m happy with the product and would recommend

Nice and warm, but bulky.

They work well and keep your hands warm and the battery lasts pretty well, but they are a bit on the bulky side. For some reason the thumb part is really long and I had to go to a Small size where normally I would be a Medium.

How Warm should they really be

I love how they look. I like how they charge with the split cable. I like that they are paired and connected wirelessly. So that one control, does both. One of the "selling points" was the temperature. Given that this is colder Winter. These seemed like the perfect solution. I already have Five Mid-Season gloves that I regard as excellent. But noticeably even with heated grips - back of my hand and fingers were freezing. There is a claimed 40ºc, 50 and 60 - really do not match the result I get when operating the gloves. I can understand that it would bad for the hands to be sweating inside the gloves for excessive heating. So, I did an informal test. Put a thermometer inside one of the gloves, used a small clamp to seal the wrist. And left the gloves outside in 5ºc. After 30 minutes the gauge read 23ºc, placed around the palm of glove. So, do I have faulty gloves or is the heating merely overstated?

So purchased a set of these for my hour or so commute to work, very cold mornings in the low single digits, maximum heat was good all the other heat settings were a bit pointless really, On battery I got about 2.5 hours on a charge not great but good enough for what I needed, you do get longer if you turn them the temp down. Gloves are nice to ware if not a bit long in the fingers makes using the controls on the bike a bit tricky. But the thing that let them down is the thin and kinda cheap wiring, my gloves have failed on the right hand glove and will intermittently come back to life then turn off, which kind of defeats the point of having heated gloves. Have submitted a warranty claim so will see how that goes.
